Sustainability and HSE Policy

Our Sustainability Culture

At Winkey Shipping, we are committed to responsible and sustainable shipping. As a trusted carrier in the breakbulk and dry bulk sectors, we recognize that our operations have environmental, social, and safety implications. Our goal is to lead by example—minimizing our impact, maximizing long-term value, and protecting the well-being of people, communities, and the planet.

Our Sustainability Commitment

We strive to integrate sustainability into every aspect of our operations, balancing economic growth with environmental stewardship and social responsibility. Our sustainability efforts are guided by three core principles:

Environmental Responsibility: We aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve fuel efficiency, and manage resources responsibly. This includes adopting low-carbon technologies, optimizing voyage efficiency, and reducing waste and marine pollution.

Social Impact: We engage with communities, uphold human rights, and support diversity and inclusion within our workforce. We believe shipping should contribute positively to the regions we operate in.

Governance and Transparency: We conduct our business with integrity, comply with international laws and sanctions, and support transparency across our supply chain.

Health, Safety & Environment

Ensuring the health and safety of our employees, partners, and cargo is a top priority. Our HSE approach is structured around prevention, compliance, and continuous improvement:

Health & Safety First: We maintain a safety-first culture onboard and ashore. This includes regular risk assessments, emergency drills, crew training, and strict compliance with international maritime safety regulations.

Environmental Protection: We strive to operate in an environmentally responsible manner by adhering to MARPOL standards, managing ballast water, and minimizing harmful emissions and discharges.

Regulatory Compliance: We comply with all applicable international, regional, and local legislation, including but not limited to the IMO, Australian Maritime Safety Authority, and Port State Control requirements.

Incident Reporting & Investigation: All incidents are promptly reported, investigated, and analyzed to ensure accountability and to implement corrective actions that prevent recurrence

Operational Initiatives

Winkey Shipping has begun implementing practical sustainability measures across its fleet and offices, including:

Voyage Optimization & Slow Steaming: We plan and execute voyages with fuel efficiency in mind, using routing tools and performance analytics to minimize fuel consumption and emissions without compromising delivery timelines.

Eco-Friendly Port Operations: We prioritize port facilities that offer shore power and strictly comply with ESA zone emission rules, enabling us to reduce emissions during port stays and support global decarbonization efforts.

Waste Reduction Initiatives: We’ve taken steps to eliminate single-use plastics and L/S/D onboard and have implemented enhanced waste segregation systems to improve recycling and responsible disposal ashore.

Digital Emissions Monitoring: By investing in smart digital tools, we are able to monitor fuel consumption, CO₂ output, and vessel efficiency metrics in real time — enabling better decision-making and continuous environmental improvement.

Culture and Responsibility

Sustainability and safety are not one-time goals—they are embedded in our corporate culture. Every Winkey employee, from management to crew, is empowered to contribute to safer, cleaner, and more efficient operations.
We foster a workplace where accountability, mutual respect, and environmental awareness are part of daily decision-making.

Winkey Shipping is committed to navigating the future of shipping with care, responsibility, and resilience.
